Discovery Space Highlights: Successful AI in Education Conference

On April 13, 2024, a pivotal conference on the use of AI in primary and secondary education took place, organised by Ellinogermaniki Agogi in collaboration with the Open Technologies Alliance (GFOSS) and the National Organization for the support of eTwinning action. This event, supported by several prestigious academic institutions including the National Technical University of Athens and the University of Piraeus, focused on integrating AI technologies into primary and secondary education.

The conference featured two main events that underscored the innovative approaches being explored within the Discovery Space project:

  • Discovery Space Workshop: This workshop, facilitated by specialists from Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) and the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), involved 12 teachers. It focused on practical AI applications in education, providing hands-on experience in how AI can be utilized in classroom settings.
  • Roundtable Discussion: A key roundtable discussion explored the broader integration of AI in secondary education, touching upon its potential in other fields. This discussion also addressed participants’ questions, with significant insights provided by Dr. Sotiriou of EA and Prof. Mentzas of ICCS.

The conference was highly successful, with the Discovery Space workshop particularly receiving positive feedback from participants who showed great interest in the potential of AI to enhance educational practices. The event marked a significant step forward in understanding and applying AI in education, driving interest and enthusiasm among educators and stakeholders in the Discovery Space project.
