ESIA Discovery Space Summer School: A Recap

The 2024 European School Innovation Academy (ESIA) Discovery Space summer school, hosted by our partners at Ellinogermaniki Agogi, was a whirlwind of inspiration and learning. Held in Marathon, Greece, from 7th to 12th July, the event brought together educators from across Europe to explore the cutting-edge intersection of artificial intelligence and education.

Participants delved deep into the core concepts underpinning the Discovery Space project, including the transformative potential of AI-enhanced Deeper Learning classrooms for STEM subjects. The power of inquiry-based and problem-based learning was explored, alongside the benefits of formative assessment in real-world classroom settings. A particular focus was on how AI-assisted differentiated learning can revolutionise the educational process.

Beyond the classroom, participants were treated to a visit to the Ellinogermaniki Agogi facilities in Pallini. A highlight was experiencing the LCH interactive tunnel – a remarkable installation created for the 70th anniversary of CERN. The opportunity to explore the seismograph and observatory further enriched the experience, offering a glimpse into the diverse scientific endeavours of the organisation.
